Polytunnel Project:
Greenhouse Gardeners: An Article by Aoife GodeOctober 2021 Early on Thursday morning we went outside with our buckets and spades. First teacher told us what to do, we were preparing the floor of the polytunnel. The polytunnel was in the school grounds beside the pitch. We were out there because we wanted to learn more about plants, nature and the environment. Then we filled our buckets with soil, after that we emptied them onto the floor. Meanwhile teacher was going around taking pictures of us, at work. Soon afterwards we levelled the floor with a rake. Next we went inside washed our hands. We enjoyed our lunch and loved doing it because we got into nature more. Some photos of 3rd class gardening in our new PolytunnelWe would like to express a special thanks to Creggstone who have donated 1000 euro to our polytunnel. It will go to great use!!

A few words from David on his visit.''I was blown away by the brilliant students and staff at Creagh NS. From the moment I stepped on the grounds of Creagh NS I was made to feel extremely welcome. I was delighted to see how much the students are enjoying the Marathon Kids programme. The students were very engaging and asked loads of great questions and their understanding of the importance of exercise for both physical and mental wellbeing was impressive. A credit to their teachers! It was a pleasure for me to head west and visit a great school. Well done to all involved - Students, Teacher and staff! '' Thank you David for giving our children such a memorable experience. You will always be welcome back to visit!!Some images from David's visitOur Marathon Kids JourneyAt the start of the term this year, we embarked on a new sport's programme in conjunction with and funded by the Galway Sports Partnership. The children in Mr Ronaldson's and Mr Geraghty's 6th classes have been taking part in Marathon Kids. This is an 8 week incremental running programme that promotes a healthy life style and during which the children will run distance equivalant to a marathon. The programme will culminate in a mile run, after which past pupil and inspirational member of the Irish Women's rugby team, Beibhinn Parsons, has agreed to present medals to all the participants sometime in December. In the meantime, rain, hail or shine, 6th class pupils will be clocking up their miles on a daily basis! Well done to all the children in 6th c lass for taking on this challenge and to Mr Ronaldson and Mr Geraghty for givin g them the oportunity to take part.
